ACL Reconstruction:

If you have undergone an ACL, anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, you should begin range of motion exercises soon after your surgery, removing the Velcro strapped brace and attempting to fully extend and fully flex your knee with the assistance of the other leg, "the kitchen table exercises". Isometric tensing of the thigh muscles should be done at least 100 times per day along with straight leg raising exercises to keep your thigh muscles strong. You should begin physical therapy at the time prescribed for you, either in your preoperative planning or immediately after your first postoperative visit.
